Sunflower Songs

A little about little old Paula and the birth of Sunflower Songs.

I have been writing songs for 5 years now and have always felt lucky to have the support from local open mic nights, they've given me the confidence to voice my words and carry on doing the same.

I won a competition at the Shed (Leicester venue) in 2005 and was lucky enough to perform at Summer Sundae after being chosen, I also won another competition in Windsor that gave me free recording time, since then I’ve entered 2 more local comps and it seemed the arrangement they had going was that, you could only possibly win if you brought in lots of people.

I found this very disheartening for the real talent that went unnoticed because they didn’t bring their entire family and all their friends, because of this I’m running this ‘Stars in their Word’s, fair and square, every one here has an equal chance.

I've been hosting Don Quixote for over a year now and started olives Open mic which now runs successfully by Stevie Jones, I have seen some amazing talent pass through, watched as a room full of 120 people stop to listen to someone singing their soul.

It can be very emotional, I have found stars in peoples words many times and this is why id like to give something back to those talented people........
